Update 5.19.99 - Surfing the web, I found a feature under the education section of Apple Computer's website that has a feature on Peter Ducharme (pictured at right), Composer and DJ who created the music for "Synchronicity". Go check it out!
Update 2.9.99 - After going through the web logs for dcubed.com, I noticed the following URL's link to this page. Hey, I'm famous!
Update 2.3.99 - I recently recieved the following letter from the_shmooze, who has been exchanging messages with me on and off after the commercial aired. I emailed him following a posting he wrote to the newsgroup alt.tv.commercials. Here is his email, with links added for your benefit.
DuCharme wrote me back again. He's totally cool with posting the song and distributing it. The title of the song is "Jung at Heart" and I have entitled the remix as "Jung at Heart (nebulae Remix)"
I also encoded the song title via WinAmp, so you may want to download it again.

Feel free to post it, but just make sure credit goes to DuCharme for the song, and to nebulae for the remix. If you get any comments, please send it my way. Thanks for the lead on DuCharme. I'm glad I got in touch with him.
Also, if you want, spread the word to anyone who's a fan of the commercial.

Update 2.1.99 - VW has posted information on their media page about the ad, which they have appropriatly dubbed "Sychronicity". You can download it in MP3, Wav, or Au formats. From the page: "Sometimes everything just comes together. In this case, it's you and Volkswagen and Master Cylinder's tune "Jung at Heart." Download the music from "Synchronicity," our new Jetta commercial. Just pick your favorite format and start grooving to the 60-second commercial mix. "
Adweek, 1.18.99 - "The soundtrack for the Jetta ad was composed by Pete DuCharme of Somerville, Mass., who was given the assignment from [Arnold Communications creative director Lance] Jensen, a longtime acquaintance, after the spot had been filmed. DuCharme was specifically asked to write the music at 94 beats a minute--the cadence, it turns out, of a brisk walk--so that the physical movement in the ads could be in harmony with the chords. During the shoot, that beat was blared over loudspeakers 'to keep everyone in sync,' [creative director Alan] Pafenbach says. 'It's a wonder we weren't arrested."
